This train station needs to be updated. Someone should be here at all times considering that there is no main entrance. A lot more lighting should be presented for people who have to wait by themselves. This station is not welcoming. If it was on the scale of 0-5 this station I’m sorry but it would get a 0

I’ve frequent this station plenty of times and it’s a very dark place to be waiting alone, especially a woman. Should think about getting a security guard just in case you need to park your car or something! Add more light is a big suggestion, just to spooky!!

This isn’t where you want to get on Amtrak.

A thirteen hour train delay gave me the opportunity to be traumatized by this location. It’s not open day nor night when needed. There is no proper shelter while you wait in the heat or during boarding in the rain. The building and awning needs maintenance.
It’s truly sad for South Carolina transportation.

Still not a great place to wait on a train for over 3 hours. The door to the “waiting area” is open most of the time, though a bit ramshackle, so if you wait here, it might be best to bring someone to wait with you to keep you safe and sane if you arent going to be waiting a car. Im pretty sure theres no heating or air conditioning in the small room they have to offer. There is no staff and no phone so PLEASE take a working cellphone with you, and dont expect there to be service. One lady who got off the train same time as me didnt have any service (I believe she had AT&T) and had to ask for my phone (I have T&T Metro).
The single bathroom they have in the station is through the waiting area that is sometimes locked, so be wary of that. Last time I went (december 18th and 22nd 2022) there was no hand soap or paper towels at all, and was dirty, though thats nothing new. Take hand sanitizer with you.
Also, if you can, get the Amtrak app, and check the progress of the train before you leave for the station. Odds are you dont live nearby so driving back home is a pain and the train only comes to this station at 2:45 in the morning (if youre lucky and it’s on time).
Also a general tip- if youve never waited in your car for a long time while others are waiting in their cars next to you- be very careful not to park too close to them or with their tailpipe facing the front of your car cause you dont want carbon monoxide poisoning. Best of luck.

I’ve read the reviews. My family is from Denmark, sc. As a young 20 year old woman and as years passed, I’ve traveled on Amtrak to Denmark, SC. This is so sad. The station was like that in the 70’s. I’ll be 69 yrs this year, 2025 and nothing has changed…so sad. The only advantage that I had is that I could walk from the station to my grandmother’s house, but who would do that in th wee early hours of the morning? Come Denmark, do better than this. We are in 2025.
