Located in Deltona, Florida, Lyonia Preserve Trail Head is a unique natural area renowned for its well-marked trails and educational indoor space with live animals. While the preserve is a local favorite for hiking and environmental education, it is very important to note that dogs are not permitted at this location. Multiple visitors have highlighted that no-dog policies are strictly enforced throughout the preserve, even for service animals, and you may be asked to leave if you arrive with a pet.
While Lyonia Preserve features scenic, varied terrain and opportunities to see Florida’s native wildlife, it is not a suitable choice for dog-friendly hikes or anyone looking for a dog park in Deltona. Please consider alternative pet-friendly parks and dog parks in the area. This preserve remains a fantastic destination for families, hikers, and students, but plan accordingly if you want to enjoy the outdoors with your four-legged friend.
We LOVE Lyonia, and the trail is always nice when it isn’t blazing hot out. There isn’t any shade so plan accordingly. Be aware- they strictly enforce the no dogs rule. We were chasing toddlers and didn’t see the sign but security sure let us know. lol

Do not bring your dogs! It is posted at the trailhead. Would have been nice if they let you know the trails are flooded. Don’t go on the blue trail, you can’t complete it and will have to do a lot of backtracking. As of 11/18/2024, still flooded.
