🐾 Kids at the Dog Park: Real Stories, Safety Risks & Smarter Solutions

Barkley Square Dog Park is a favorite destination for dog owners in DeLand, Florida, offering expansive off-leash spaces for both large and small dogs. This well-maintained, wheelchair-accessible park boasts separate areas for small and large breeds, a scenic pond where pups can swim, and plenty of room to run and socialize. Dog lovers appreciate the tranquil environment, friendly community, and the convenience of on-site restrooms and picnic facilities.
One of the unique features of Barkley Square is its beautiful pond—perfect for water-loving dogs to cool off and splash around. Both dog areas include water fountains, but visitors are encouraged to bring water bowls and extra water, as one fountain may be out of order. While the park offers pockets of shade, bringing chairs and towels is recommended for added comfort. This dog park in DeLand is recognized for its natural setting, clean facilities, kid-friendliness, and commitment to accessibility.
Not crowded.
Very large dog park with minimal shade. It does have a dog water fountain but one is broken so I recommend always bringing your own fresh water system and shade if you can.
Make sure to bring towels as pups with be sandy & salty 🙂
I have lived in this area over thirty years, but I didn’t know this huge, well maintained, beautiful dog park existed. Our dogs had a great time and the puppy even played in the pond. There are plenty of shady areas, but you should bring chairs for the humans. Also the water for the dogs is near the front, so bring water and a bowl for the dogs because otherwise it’s a long walk.
This is my dogs favorite dog park for sure. Huge space to run, lots of friendly dogs and owners too. Clean restrooms(not fancy lol) inside the fenced area in big dog area. The big dog side has a pond that is full of turtles but they don’t bother the dogs. Yes there can and has been an alligator so I check before letting my two swimmers go. It was during gator mating season and a bit of a drought so I believe that contributed. The small dog side is pretty expansive as well. Both have water fountains. There is also an enclosure adjacent to keep dogs in heat, non social dogs,or dogs that for some reason need to be kept separate.
I really enjoyed Barkley Square Dog Park and so does our pup!! I like both how the big and small dog areas have lots of room for the doggies to run and play. Our dog is a puppy but big for 3 months old so I had him in the small dog area and it was perfect for him.
Fantastic place to bring to puppers! Huge areas for dogs to roam and play and run! My dog is a runner and he loves this place. I’ve never seen a dog park so big. The pond is a great way for the dogs to cool off and splash around!
