Located right by the NIU campus, Annie’s Woods is a dog-friendly park in DeKalb, Illinois, that offers a welcoming atmosphere for both two- and four-legged visitors. The park is known for its pet-friendly paved walking paths, shaded seating areas, and unique concrete recreational features like table tennis, foosball, and cornhole. It is a lovely spot for families and their dogs to enjoy outdoor activities, alongside a scenic location next to the Kishwaukee River.
While Annie’s Woods is celebrated for its vibrant playground, sports courts, and picnic pavilion, dog owners particularly appreciate its open spaces, long walking paths, and ample opportunities for pet-friendly relaxation. The park is mostly shaded, making it comfortable during summer months, although some visitors note that dense tree cover is limited. Please note, parking may be challenging due to proximity to NIU, so plan accordingly.
Love this spot! Only thing missing is a restroom! Pet friendly, a cool concrete table tennis table, concrete bag toss tables, benches, pavilion, basketball court, concrete foosball table, long paved walking path around and beyond the playground. The playground itself is very cute! Most of the seats are in shaded areas. Lovely place.

A pleasant little park, though the name is poorly chosen. I don’t think they’re more than a dozen trees there. That said, it’s right by the NIU campus, has facilities for sports and picnics and is up against the Kishwaukee River. So there’s plenty to enjoy.

I absolutely love this park. My son does as well. There’s also concrete structures for foosball and Cornhole(bags) that you can use. Not terribly buggy, but a little spray went a long way.

Great little park. Wish there was a bit of shade, but lots of fun for the kids.
