(Members only)Nelson Park Dog Park is a spacious, well-maintained pet-friendly destination in Decatur, Illinois. Conveniently located at 2240 E Cantrell St, this dog park features a huge fenced area where dogs can safely play and socialize off-leash. The park is known for its accessibility, offering both a wheelchair accessible entrance and parking lot, making it welcoming for all pet owners. Amenities such as picnic tables provide a comfortable experience for visitors, though note that electronic membership access is required for entry.
The park is praised for its maintenance and expansive space, but do be aware that lighting may be less reliable during winter hours, and water features may require seasonal repairs. It’s the perfect spot in Decatur for dog lovers seeking a secure and friendly environment to let their pets roam. As a members-only facility, it remains quieter than many public parks, offering a peaceful retreat for you and your furry friend.
Great facility. New docks. Amazing crappie fishery. Matt England with England Expeditions is a local guide. He has an amazing Falcon F205. It’s a fish machine.
Waterspout will still need fixed come spring and the lighting is out during winter hours probably not the best idea.
This fenced in dog park is huge. Very nice and well maintained
Idk, my pup will find a mud hole in a drought
Drove all the way here only to find out you have to have an electronic card to get in! Never experienced this anywhere else ever. No wonder no one is using it. What a waste of a really great dog park!
