Koogler Wetland Prairie Reserve is a peaceful nature preserve offering well-maintained hiking trails, including a gravel path and boardwalk through wetland areas. It is a great spot for families and pets, featuring wildlife viewing opportunities with birds, frogs, beavers, and a variety of wildflowers and plants. The park is wheelchair accessible, kid-friendly, and provides benches along the trail for resting. The environment is mostly shaded, making it ideal for leisurely walks amidst nature. Parking is available, though there are no signs at the entrance indicating the park’s name. The trails are groomed and improved to minimize wetness, and there is a single clean porta potty on-site. Overall, it’s a charming and less-crowded getaway into nature near Dayton, OH.

The hiking trail has been improved eliminating wet areas. The boardwalk is very nice and one can see many birds, butterflies, and wildflowers. It is not too busy which is something I like. The use of this park has increased since the COVID-19 pandemic. The paths have been improved recently and now there are very few if any areas that are muddy. There is still a lot of wildlife and beavers keep trying to build a dam which rangers break to keep the paths from flooding. You can find many types of wildflowers there.

This was my first stop in the 3, of the several, Beavercreek Wetland Reserves.

Only downfall, NO sign telling you what park it is at the entrance like a majority of the others have.

This is a well marked path and beautiful. Mostly shaded. Has the somewhat rare, for our area (I’ve hiked over 50 parks and have never seen it before) the Yellow wetland iris. Pic included. Gorgeous. Many birds can be heard. Many wildflowers that had bloomed, are blooming and will bloom in the summer. Many I’ve never heard of. I will def be back in the summer when the wetland summer flowers come in.

Really nice, smallish nature spot to take kids or pets. Well groomed walking paths (lots of poison ivy on the sides of the paths that are closer to the entrance, so stick to the paths). 2 nice boardwalks crossing the swamp area. Lots of flowers in bloom. Multiple small access trails lead right up to the small creek.

Nice little roadside stop and short 1/2 mile loop with a boardwalk. There is one porta potty. It was clean and well maintained.

Beautiful little gem hidden off-road. Gravel trail into boardwalk through the water logged land. Springtime is a wonderful time to experience this easy walk. Many different birds to hear and see. Frogs, squirrels and a raccoon or two. Keep your eyes open so you don’t miss anything! Resting benches along the way if you need to take a break and just breathe. You end up walking along side the beaver creek. You can walk to the creek but I don’t recommend if it’s muddy. It’s pretty slippery!
Don’t pass up this opportunity to experience quiet, peaceful nature inside the chaos of people.
