Family friendly
I appreciate that this park is well connected with the Shaiwassee library next to it. The storybook trail connects them as you can read a child’s picture book that is posted along the path. There are also many events that take place here. Check out the website for info on summer camps, kids fishing competitions, and nerf wars.
The grounds are well maintained with a playground, baseball fields and bathrooms that were fairly clean. The path that winds around the basin can be nice, but don’t wear sandals. The path is made of pea pebbles and will destroy your feet. There’s a pavilion, it is a bit outdated, but if you need a covered picnic area, this will do.
It’s a great park with the massive “but” that is the extreme number of ticks at this place. I’ve never pulled so many ticks off of myself and my dog as I did after a short walk on the maintained loop behind the baseball diamonds.
I had tick repellent on myself and my dogs, and kept them from walking in or brushing on the grass but it didn’t help. I must have pulled 20 ticks off my dog and had to bathe him in a flea/ticks removal shampoo after I got home.
I can’t see myself coming back to this place until there is snow on the ground
