My kiddos were doing a program in Darlington and I needed some time to kill so I asked Darlington natives where would be a good place to walk and then suggested Williamson Park.
This place is really a hidden gem in Darlington. I had no clue they had a cute little spot that is full of nature so close to downtown. I believe the entire loop is 1.1miles. There are several other cut through boardwalks/trails from one side to the other side of the park. There are deer, squirrells, hawks and alot of other critters throughout the park. The park borders and crosses a beautiful creek. My doggies really enjoyed walking around the park.
It consist of a series of boardwalks and ground trails. Some parts may be difficult to navigate if you have mobility challenges. There are alot of roots. The only negative say I can say about this place is on the right side of the park, the trail gets quite muddy and impassable if there is wet weather, this isn’t surprising as it is quite literally a swamp, however it is good to note so you can plan ahead.
This place was great. we walked the path and then walked down thru it picking up garbage from people who could not use one of the many garbage cans provided on thw path
A gorgeous park in the heart of Darlington that celebrates the beauties of cypress creeks and bottomland forest. Perfect for rambles of all sorts, and you are sure to see examples of local wildlife, deer included. Impressive labeling of plant species with great details
Nice little spot to walk or take your pup out for awhile. Bridges across the creek. Plenty of secret spots. Wildlife and lots of poison ivy wrapped around beautiful oak trees. Does that make it poison oak?! lol nice place. Open all the time. Don’t leave trash. There is places for trash. They even provide dog bags for poop. Didn’t see any fishing spots but I’m sure a cane pole would find fishing bait for the next waterfront over It’s very quiet.
