7 Gables Road Natural Area

7 Gables Road Natural Area offers a peaceful natural experience with trails suited for hiking, birdwatching, and walking. The trail is wide and out-and-back style, surrounded by lovely woods and wetland areas that allow sightings of wildlife like deer and wetland birds. While the area is not wheelchair accessible and has a car-width path that was once a road, it provides unique forest sounds and scenic views. It is a good place for families with children but may have heavy, somewhat eerie energy that some visitors notice. Bugs can be present, as with most natural areas.

Quiet place to go for a walk. Old and tall forest growth allow for some unique and eerie sounds from the wind and branches overhead. Lots of opportunity to see wildlife from deer to wetland birds and snakes.
Several trail options can mix up your hike each time and make it possible to connect with Hewes Lake trails.
Very lovely woods and wetland areas . Bugs were pretty bad but that’s to be expected. I went looking for morels but didn’t have any look, saw several other people who use the same idea.
The only things I didn’t like about this site were the path and the overall energy. The path is car width and pretty straight shot, vehicles aren’t allowed anymore but it was clearly a road at one time. I don’t like how open it made the walk personally but that’s just preference.
The energy of the place was super heavy, not dark but heavy and forlorn. It was honestly so “off” to me that I probably won’t be going back.
We had a very similar experience there was loud screaming noises the deeper we walked into the woods. We actually made it to the stones on the ground from the old witches house. An we got pictures with things in them . Our dog even stopped dead in his tracks and we got outta dodge.
What a great spot for a hike! The trail is wide (big enough for farm equipment to get back into the fields) and there are tree tunnels at several points. It’s an out and back trail, so plan accordingly.
It was a good walk, didn’t even make it halfway, it’s supposed to be a haunted trail, didn’t hear anything or see anything scary, but the peace and quite, birds, some beautiful views, make sure to have shoes, didn’t hear anything scary see anything scary, gonna have to go back sometime,
