Amenities at Newport Park & Trails include picnic tables, a playground for kids, and good parking. The trail is well-marked, features shaded areas, and viewing platforms offer lovely scenic spots along your route. While the trail is concrete throughout and does not feature fenced dog areas or off-leash zones, it offers a relaxing place for dogs on-leash to explore nature. I like this trail. Its a creatively designed, dog-friendly trail with a couple of small hills, filtered shade, viewing platforms, and mile markers at 1/2 mile increments. The total distance is 2.5 miles one-way, 5 miles round trip. The downside is that its all concrete. From a running perspective, concrete is the hardest surface you can run on.
It is great for bikes. Our kids ride their bikes, i run with them, and my wife walks the dogs.
Watch for wildlife. Not only will you see Egrets and There are snakes. Our dog got a tic while going off the trail. We go every couple of days as a family.
This is such a nice shaded trail.
The trail is 2 1/2 miles long for a total walk or run of 5 miles. Great place to get your exercise.
Great place and very peaceful place to walk or for jogging even bike riding.
Pretty cool little family spot. Good parking. Wish the bathrooms were open.
Very nice. Folks there are not a fan of cyclists though. The view is absolutely breathtaking!
