Located at 745 Red Rock Rd in Cresco, Pennsylvania, the Mount Airy Red Rock Trailhead offers pet owners a peaceful getaway amidst forests, streams, and scenic natural beauty. This dog-friendly destination is known for its well-marked trails, short loops, shaded paths, and tranquil ambiance, making it a perfect spot for both quick walks or leisurely strolls with your four-legged companion. While the park is not a traditional, fenced dog park, it stands out as a popular choice for those searching for pet-friendly hiking and relaxing nature spots in the Poconos region.
Amenities at the park include easy-to-navigate trails that loop around picturesque creeks and ponds, free parking, and a covered pavilion ideal for picnics. Visitors can expect benches made from fallen trees, interpretive signs along the paths, and diverse flora and fauna. While off-leash play is not specified and the area is not fenced, dogs are welcome to enjoy the pet-friendly trails on-leash, making this a great option for dog owners looking for hiking, quick nature breaks, or gentle exercise in Cresco.
The Mount Airy Red Rock Trail was underwhelming. If you’re looking for mountain views, scenic overlooks, or anything unique, this isn’t the place. It’s just a basic walk through the forest without much variety or payoff at the end. For serious hikers or those wanting views, I’d recommend looking elsewhere.

Red Rock trail was a relatively easy walk on a gravel trail. Mt. Sophia trail is moderately difficult. Both we’re beautiful.
