🐾 How to Handle Aggressive Dogs at the Dog Park – Real Advice from Dog Owners
Visiting the dog park can be a joyful activity for both you and your furry friend—but aggressive encounters can quickly […]
Bark Park is a free, public dog park located along Cottleville Trail in beautiful Cottleville, Missouri. Popular with local pet owners, this fenced park offers three separate sections, making it easy to separate large and small dogs for safe, off-leash play. While the park is expansive, visitors should note that the terrain is a bit uneven in places, so sturdy shoes are recommended. For those looking for pet-friendly trails and open space where their furry friends can run, Bark Park is a convenient option in the Cottleville area.
The park features some amenities for both dogs and their owners, including seating areas and a small shaded shelter toward the back. Dog waste bags are provided, and water is available just outside the fence near the building (bring your own bowl). There are plenty of opportunities for dogs to stretch their legs and socialize, but be aware that maintenance can sometimes be an issue, especially in the small dog area. Parking is available nearby for added convenience.
Good, public, free dog park. They have it fenced off in 3 sections providing the capacity to keep the big guys separated from the wee ones. Well appointed park with shelters etc.
I hate to be harsh and I want to like this park but every time I go there are people not obeying the rules… whether it be size of dog in the right corral or just ignoring their dogs misbehavior and threatening other dogs to the point people are uncomfortable and leave. There is a couple that I have seen there multiple times with different sized dogs and they put their aggressive larger dogs in with the itty bitty ones. I watch terrified owners scoop their dogs up and leave. I myself have larger dogs and feel bad for the small dog owners that just want to let their dog play.
It is also more and more run down every time I visit. For how great Cottleville is, I would expect a lot better than what this facility has to offer. I feel gas stations with dog parks are far superior to this place. You have to bring your own water and poop bags. And to dispose of the poop you have to go outside of the area… so most people have to touch multiple gates with poop. Because of this, unfortunately, less and less people have been picking up their dogs poo. I feel with some minor improvements/maintenance this could be a great place.
Dog park needs to be maintained. Small dog area has several gaps and broken fences. Looks like golf carts hit the fence all the time. Also a lot of dog poop that has not been picked up.
Fairly expansive area with a small shaded area towards the back.
Couple points, if you’re a regular at other dog parks. No water receptacles (bring your own bowl) didn’t readily see anywhere to refill my water jug. Maybe the restrooms if the main park has restrooms?
The ground is pretty uneven. So watch your step!
Seating available. Very little to no shade available. Water available outside the fence next to the building. Poo bags available. Both sides are decent in size. We were able to stretch our legs.
