FAQ for Yaman Park in Cortland New York:
Beautiful Park!! I love it here!
This is the third time we stop there for lunch on our long journey between SC and Quebec. This municipal park is totally charming, clean and with very well maintained site for picnic. Bonus, very easy access from i81.
It’s a great park! We used a small picnic pavilion, that was shaded by some big maple trees. Nice big grill, which we filled! We were surprised that the restrooms weren’t open, on SUNY Cortland’s Graduation Day. We were one of four parties there!
Nice park and beach but the lifeguards are way too controlling. They run it like their own territory. Constantly screaming into their megaphones about the rules. No laying in puddles on the beach (even while wearing a life jacket). No touching in the water. No splashing. Then every 1 hour everyone needs to get out of the water and listen to the lifeguards go over the rules on the megaphone. Nice water fountain in the middle of the lake. It was hard for me since single parent of 4. Some wanted to go to deep end and some wanted to stay on the beach. The lifeguards would constantly tell me to stay with my kids. -_-
What a beautiful park! We have had our family reunion there twice now, and it’s the perfect place to have it! It’s all on level ground just off the highway and easy to access from the parking lot. There are two pavilions overlooking the lake, with a playground on one side and the bathrooms on the other. There is a beach with lifeguards and a section on the beach for dogs, too!
