Located in the heart of downtown Cortland, Courthouse Park offers a scenic escape for families and their furry friends alike. Known for its well-kept green spaces, beautiful fountains, and an abundance of public art and memorials, this pet-friendly park allows you and your dog to enjoy the tranquil surroundings together. The park’s wide, open areas make it ideal for walking your dog on a leash and relaxing under the shade of mature trees. Frequent events and festivals, such as the popular Pumpkinfest, bring the community together in this historic Cortland gathering spot.
While Courthouse Park is not a designated off-leash dog park, it offers plenty of benches for owners, well-maintained paved paths for dog-friendly walks, and grassy fields for outdoor fun. Ample parking is conveniently located nearby, and you’ll find shaded areas perfect for picnic breaks. The park’s central location makes it easy to access other downtown Cortland amenities and pet-friendly areas.
Used to be a nice park at the intersection of city and county business and county justice. Now it’s a campground for the houseless folk. Watch where you step there
and on any of the adjacent properties.
This park is absolutely gorgeous! I had the pleasure of being a vendor there at the Pumpkinfest on October 6th and 7th, and found it to be a really beautiful and unique park and friendly and organized event. It’s always wonderful when events are hosted in parks. 😊
If you’re visiting or just reside in town, you must visit sit down relax enjoy the sculptures and scenery, historical and amazing although there is a little construction right now, do not let that discourage you.
So beautiful and peaceful. We make many trips all summer and fall as it is so close. My son just loves the large fountain. They take such good care of it and always love the statue and all the memorials. Great place to visit and take a break from eveything. Read a book, bring a lunch, there are plenty of benches throughout!
The pumpkin festival at the park was very nice but the items there were a little too expensive for me and somewhat gimmicky. Too many sugary treats. I did like the garlic tent and the the homemade items.
