Overton Preserve offers beautiful, pet-friendly trails tucked away in Coram, NY. This scenic spot is perfect for dog owners seeking nature adventures with their furry friends. The preserve is best known for its well-maintained hiking and mountain biking trails, with routes suitable for both kids and adults. The main hiking loop is mostly flat, making it easy for families and dog walkers alike, while mountain bikers will find plenty to explore with an 11+ mile trail system.
Leashed dogs are welcome, and the park’s natural setting promises a relaxing day outdoors. While Overton Preserve is not a traditional fenced dog park, visitors can enjoy the wooded environment and fresh air. It’s a local favorite among dog lovers in Suffolk County who appreciate accessible, pet-friendly outdoor spaces. Do note: recent visitors have recommended caution during the warmer months due to chiggers; consider visiting in cooler weather or taking preventive measures for your pets.
Just went today with my girlfriend and our dog, it was a beautiful trail and I’m sure the MTB trail is fun as well. But we came home with chiggers. And not just a couple, I’m talking hundreds. Beware especially if you have a furry companion. I’m sure a hike in the winter won’t be a problem if you really wanted to because they burrow for winter.
Great trail to ride with a combination of many features.!!
There is a 11 plus mtbike trail, main loop is 4 miles, 9 BD’s.
The tail was surprisingly good, poorly marked in some areas but really good nonetheless. I would definitely recommend coming here!
Great walking trail if you take the straight trail it’s basically all flat terrain.
