Funks Pond Recreational Area offers an inviting spot for dog owners looking for pet-friendly trails and a quiet escape. Located near Conowingo, Maryland, this hidden gem features a picturesque trail that leads to a small pond, where you and your leashed dog can enjoy the natural scenery, especially during the vibrant late summer and early fall months. The trail offers a simple hike through the woods, making it perfect for those who want a peaceful walk with their dog away from the crowds.
While it’s not a traditional fenced-in dog park, Funks Pond is dog-friendly and gives you the opportunity to explore with your four-legged friend. There’s limited parking available (about 10 cars), and picnic benches are nearby, making it a nice spot to relax after your walk. The area is known for being somewhat rustic, with a gravel access road and muddy conditions after rain, so prepare accordingly. While dogs must remain on-leash, the tranquil trail and small pond make for a memorable outdoor adventure with your pet.
The trail down to the pond was nice. We were hoping for access to the river but it ended at railroad tracks with No Trespassing signs beyond it. There was a pond but it wasn’t all that scenic. Maybe the trail continued but we didn’t see anywhere else to go.
Cool hiking area that leads to what looks like good fishing
A little pond at the end of an old gravel road. Nothing fancy just a nice little walk/hike and a little fishing spot. Parking for about 10 cars and a few picnic benches next to the parking.
terrible, caught no fish wouldn’t recommend. super muddy basically no where to stand got snagged every cast. I rather fish in a drain then try this pond again.
Beautiful little hike to the pond that also has train tracks separating the pond from a larger body of water. The hike was gorgeous and love the late summer early fall colors.
