🐾 How to Handle Aggressive Dogs at the Dog Park – Real Advice from Dog Owners
Visiting the dog park can be a joyful activity for both you and your furry friend—but aggressive encounters can quickly […]
Arnold Park is a large, tranquil park nestled in Comer, Georgia, offering expansive green spaces and plenty of shade thanks to its abundant mature trees. Although not a dedicated dog park, it is a welcoming spot for pet owners seeking pet-friendly trails and dog-friendly hiking opportunities. Visitors can enjoy walking their dogs off-leash in certain open areas, and the park is well-loved by families for its peaceful atmosphere, picnic spots, and a variety of recreational amenities.
The park includes covered picnic tables, grilling areas, recently updated basketball courts, and playgrounds for children, making it an ideal spot for group outings and family visits. The environment is primarily natural, with minimal paved paths, so come prepared for uneven terrain and seasonal conditions. While Arnold Park offers plenty of space and shade for pets and their owners, note that the park is not fenced, and maintenance can vary throughout the year.
There’s plenty of space to walk, run and play. The park has lots of trees and shade, but also open areas. A very nice place to spend time with the family and we’ll kept!

4 year old and 2 year old. It was the most precious thing to watch them playing on this basketball court! Thank y’all!

Update 2022: There’s a new play structure for smaller kids closer to the road. You can park right by it in the lot. There’s a newly resurfaced basketball court with 2 new regulation hoops and a new small shelter that has 2 picnic tables.
Update 2019: Everything’s the same except it has been mowed when we’ve visited.
OP from 2018: This is a large, quiet, mostly neglected park with a small playground and a few swings. So far, my kids and I have only visited once and it wasn’t mowed.
There are two (sometimes unmowed) baseball fields and a concrete slab with no nets or basketball hoops.
There are picnic tables and grills and the area is very shaded by large trees.
No bathrooms.
The ground around the picnic area and playground is uneven, so it’s hard for kids to ride bikes here, difficult to push strollers, and you’d have a horrible time trying to get a wheelchair around here unless it is very powerful.
There were lots of large flying insects around the playground which weren’t stinging insects but were annoying. A few bees, too.
We got several mosquito bites in the twenty minutes we were there, so bring bug repellant.
There is no fence. The playground is far from the low-traffic road, but adventurous kids can very easily get to it.
This park is nice to come to just to get outdoors, but it definitely needs more frequent maintenance. See my photos of the rusted play structure…it is dangerous. The website says that the city of Comer is responsible for the upkeep. I did not see hours posted for this park.
