Visiting the dog park can be a joyful activity for both you and your furry friend—but aggressive encounters can quickly […]
Harlan Wolfe Park is a lesser-known, dog-friendly park nestled along Cheyenne Creek on the west side of Colorado Springs. This four-acre open space offers a peaceful and private retreat for dog owners looking for off-leash freedom and natural beauty. Known for its quiet atmosphere, the park is ideal for letting your dog explore the creek and run free, especially if you prefer minimal crowds.
While the park has a rich history and was once home to community gardens and restoration projects, it is currently more of a natural open space with limited formal amenities. Visitors can enjoy the scenic views, local wildlife (including deer), and the relaxed vibe that makes it unique among dog parks in Colorado Springs. Be aware that amenities like restrooms, benches, or waste stations are not currently evident, and park access might be limited due to ongoing construction or posted restrictions at certain entrances.
One of my favorite places here in the west side of Colorado springs it’s always private I can let my dog off his leash to run and play in the creek and not be concerned of any other dogs.
Lovely park,neglected buildings
Nice little four acre open space along Cheyenne creek. But I sure would like to know why this park seems to have been abandoned by the city, the community, and the historical preservation association.
I am new to town and found this spot by accident. I could tell it used to have more going on so I looked it up on internet when I got home. Turns out as recently as three years ago this was the sight of a thriving community garden, interpretive programs, and a restoration project of the historic buildings. Now it is just a four acre abandoned plot and abandoned buildings. It’s a nice quit spot to enjoy the creek but it is a shame it isn’t still a thriving multifaceted park.
Every entrance is closed. No place to park much less a safe place to turn around. The road is under construction but all signs and entrances are posted private property. So either the neighbors have taken over the park or it’s no longer a public park.
