Went in miss pixie and was lovely weather. Very fall hike. Lots of folks on mountain bike. Kid friendly hike. Can be buggy.

Good trail for gravel bike. Has some uphills. Fatter tires would be best. School mountain trail is great.

One of loop trails in the area. Mountain bike friendly. Free parking along the service road. We picked the school mountain loop trail. It took us around 3.5 hours to finish.

This was a beautiful hike. I enjoyed the moderate intensity. View from top was so beautiful! Only complaint the invasive caterpillars along the trek.

Here is helpful info if you are interested in riding a bike here. The trail is great for gravel bikes but a little underwhelming for mtn bikes. There is a decent amount of climbing that makes it somewhat challenging… Definitely not a rail trail.I really wish the trail connected to 301 so you could easily loop over to Indian Brook and some of the other great dirt roads, but there is no legal way to get over to 301 (I did a hike a bike). Maybe they will build a connector at some point. The trails are super mushy right now. It seems like a lot of the trail has recently been built, so hopefully with some traffic it will compact better. There are a lot of blind corners, so I would suggest a bell.Thank you Fahnstock for including legal bike trails!
