🐾 Kids at the Dog Park: Real Stories, Safety Risks & Smarter Solutions
If you’ve spent time at an off-leash park, you’ve probably seen it:A parent strolls in with a stroller 🚼 or […]
Avery Johnson Park stands out as a welcoming spot for dog owners in Cleveland, Tennessee. Known for its large dog run area, this pet-friendly park is a popular destination for locals looking to give their dogs some room to roam. The entrance and parking lot are wheelchair accessible, making it inclusive for all visitors. With a big playground and open fields, it’s also a good spot for families and children to play while their dogs enjoy socializing.
While the park provides ample space for dogs, some owners note gaps in the fencing, especially for small dogs, and recommend monitoring your pets closely. There are currently no water sources or shaded areas, but the landscaping is well-kept and a picnic bench is available for seating. This park is one of the few in Cleveland with soccer goals and a playground, making it multi-purpose for both canine and human visitors.
Bathroom floor is always VERY slippery. My mother uses a walker and can’t use the restroom because of the slippery floor. We have been there different times and each time the floor is slick.
Only public park around cleveland that i could find with soccer goals
Big playground. My dog loves it here.
UPDATE: They have tried a little to fix the gaps but little dogs can still get out of the big open field part of the park. It really needs to be fully fixed.
ORIGINAL: The dog park has a large run area but gaps in the gates made us have to follow one of our dogs around everywhere becuase we were afraid he would slip out otherwise. The gates were too high off the ground in some spots and one gate had a large gap in the middle that was tied to keep closed but loose enough at the bottom for ours to likely be able to slip through. Also at the top of the hill the gap between the two fences is open enough for him to get in between the two fences. If these issues were fixed the park would get 5 stars.
No water source but overall very nice. No shade but that will come with time. I would suggest more trees in the middle of the larger park but all I’m good time. Very nice landscaping around the park and one picnic bench.
