If you’re searching for a place in Clarksburg, West Virginia, where your furry companion can play and exercise, Clarksburg Dog Park offers a pet-friendly space designed just for dogs. This dog park features a fully fenced, double-gated entry for added security, giving owners peace of mind as their dogs enjoy off-leash freedom. Tables and benches provide seating for owners, and there’s a water fountain available (though reviews note it may sometimes be broken), so both pets and people can stay hydrated during visits. The park connects to scenic pet-friendly trails that lead to a dock with beautiful water views, making it a great spot for both exercise and relaxation.
Spacious and generally uncrowded, the park is often described as a welcoming spot with friendly visitors. While amenities may be basic, and there is not much shade or interactive equipment for dogs beyond open space, it’s a convenient destination for letting dogs run and socialize. The picnic tables and wheelchair accessible facilities make it accessible for all visitors, including families with kids. However, guests should be aware that maintenance issues like dog waste and tick presence along nearby trails have been mentioned in reviews.
Really nice little park for your dogs. There’s a double gate– one to go into the enclosure, then another to pick which side to enter. The extra security really nips worries of escape in the bud, so you can relax while watching your dogs. Outside of the enclosure, you can walk your pets down to the dock, where there’s usually a flock of geese swimming around, or eating in the grass. There’s also a nice trail you can walk which gives you a good view of the water.
There was lots of space but not many trees. The benches were not under trees so it got kinda hot. There wasn’t much for the dogs to interact with so if there are no other dogs there it can be kinda boring. But they did have a picnic table which was nice.
It’s a great concept but no one picks up after their pups. All that fecal matter I unfortunately don’t let my dog go there anymore. However I take him to other parks like waters smith state park.
It’s a lovely place for your dog to just run around and be free, there’s also a water fountain right by the gate there a place for you to drink and for your dog to drink, there is also a trail over there it’s really good if you want to walk a couple of miles. There is also a dock and a boat ramp and in the picture I am sitting on the dock with my feet in the water! Good place!
There is dog crap everywhere, few amenities, and the fountain has been broken about a year.
On the good side, it isn’t often busy.
Clarksburg is a city where you won’t encounter a lot of folks walking their dog or doing nice things for their dog. It is mostly a tie your dog up outside town. But when I do meet dog folks here, the few that care, they are often nice. I even saw a cop here once playing with his K9.
Clarksburg should and could do much better. But at least it is something, I guess.
If your dog is bored you may want to check it out. It is often empty, and the people that do come here are super nice.
If you stray from the dog park and walk the VA loop, beware of ticks.
