Discover the unique beauty of Orlando Wetlands, a hidden gem for nature lovers and dog owners in Christmas, Florida. This spacious, pet-friendly destination offers vast hiking and walking trails through lush wetlands, providing plenty of shaded areas and breathtaking views of local wildlife. Known for its peaceful atmosphere, Orlando Wetlands is perfect for dog-friendly hiking and exploring the great outdoors with your four-legged companion. While not a dedicated dog park in the traditional sense, many visitors enjoy bringing dogs for leashed walks, enjoying the well-maintained trails, and the opportunity for peaceful reflection among nature.
The park features free entry, convenient parking right across the street, multiple trail options (including the scenic Blue Trail), restrooms, picnic areas, and shaded spots to relax. Families and solo adventurers alike can take advantage of guided tram tours, an educational center, gift shop, and historical exhibits for added interest. Please remember that Orlando Wetlands is home to diverse wildlife, including snakes and alligators, so dogs should always remain on leash for everyone’s safety.
I visited this place with my friends for bird watching. Spoonbills are my favorite. There are many species of birds you can spot. Especially if you carry a binoculars. Its a huge area so definitely need a whole day or so to cover it. I visited with my friends sometime in the afternoon hence the cart facility was not available. If I am not wrong, the cart facility is available from 10 am to 2pm. This place closes by sunset.
Free entry, lots of amazing views of wildlife. Gift shop/education center has snacks and drinks if you forget to bring some. The women who volunteer there are super friendly and very informative. The boardwalk is amazing and much longer than I expected. Bring sunscreen & bug spray.
Great trail all woods. So mostly shade little bit of mud.Little bit of bugs.Take spray, take your water and take your time to enjoy the scenery around you.A lot of beautiful trees little bridges to cross over. Would be a great family hike or just yourself to get out for some peace and quiet, highly recommend this trail.
This was my first time visiting the Orlando wetlands and it was nature at its best. It is a free, fun family adventure. There are hiking trails and guided tours on a golf cart available. I would highly recommend a visit!
It is hard to believe this is man made. The variety of wildlife is remarkable.
We got there early on a Saturday morning, and took a tram tour. Our guides were very knowledgeable, patient, and pleasant. The tram tours are free, but donations are accepted, and keep the trams running.
If you are visiting Central Florida, this is a great experience. If you enjoy the outdoors, wildlife, birding, hiking, or photography, this is a great way to spend a couple of hours
There is also an educational center which includes a gift shop and cold soda.
There is a long boardwalk I am saving for my next visit.
It’s best to go before it gets too warm, and don’t forget your hat, sunscreen, and water!
The guides did remind us to stay on the trails. You are in the wetlands, and it is home to snakes and gators too.
