Jellystone Park™ Chincoteague Island is a destination paradise for campers, families, and pet lovers looking for a dog park in Chincoteague, Virginia. This pet-friendly campground offers beautiful views from the bay to the beach, and is conveniently located near local attractions and the famous Chincoteague wild ponies. Visitors rave about friendly staff, clean bathhouses, and plenty of activities to keep everyone entertained—including scenic docks, easy bike riding, fishing spots, and outdoor spaces for dogs.
For dog owners, the park stands out with its welcoming atmosphere towards pets. While on-site reviews highlight the enjoyment of bringing dogs and easy dog walking, specific amenities like fenced dog parks or water stations may be limited; however, the spacious and friendly environment along with access to open walking areas make it a good option for those seeking pet-friendly trails or accommodations. The proximity to town ensures you can find anything you and your furry friend might need during your stay.
I was very disappointed with this campground. We stayed in a tent next to the a bathhouse. The bathhouses use septic tanks and the showers wouldn’t drain toilets were clogged and overflowing. The park would pump the tank multiple times a day. The bathrooms would not be cleaned during or after when the septic water would back up into the shower house. This is not acceptable and also a serious health hazard. The campground is booked beyond feasible capacity for the existing septic system and are not concerned with the safety of the campers. I was disgusted by the number of children in the bathhouses barefoot. Who knows where they were dumping the sewage pumped from the septic tank. Corporate needs to be made of this health and safety violation.
Spectacular experience from check in to check out. We will be back. Super fun for singles, couples, or families. A great variety of options to visit. An abundant amount of beautiful views from the bay to beaches, crabs to ponies, or pool to water park. Great location. Great bath houses that are super clean. Great amount of activities to keep the kiddos entertained from outside to inside at the activities center. I truly enjoyed myself here, and I can’t wait to return next year.
We’ve been coming to the Jellystone and former KOA for the past 6 years. First with our camper and then renting deluxe cabins post selling the camper. We’ve told all of our friend and family about how amazing it is. It’s unfortunate, but we’re currently on our beach week and the camper across from our cabin has decided to throw a raging party. Professional DJ, professional speakers literally shaking our cabin, light show, and campers blocking the road at 10pm. I’m not trying to be a downer, but I have young kids trying to sleep. We reached out to the front office and they have done nothing. I realize it’s not quiet hours, but if you’re going to throw a party, the campground should have notified me that we’d be in a party zone. This campground is expensive. I like a little peace and quiet that Chincoteague offers like our previous trips. I’m all about dance parties for the campers – just at a community area and not shaking my cabin. This may be the last time we stay in the campground.
Beware of RV Rentals! This was our first time staying at Jellystone and it was disappointing due to the RV issues we experienced. Although the girls at the front desk tried to help and the maintenance guy came and did something – it did not fix the issues. #1 the RVs are beat up and not taken care of – blinds either missing or broken, dishes dirty, bathroom not fully cleaned. #2 the top worse is the bedding issue. A piece of plywood with a topper that is overused and flat. At night it felt like literally you were sleeping on the floor. When I complained at the front desk and asked what was being done about it- they said they knew and that the manager is not able to find the right size mattress for the RVs (what??? Amazon? Call the manufacturer- I am sure they have plenty) I asked to speak to the manager but she was not available, left my name and number and asked for a call back. Never happened!
#3 bathroom / sewer and bugs issue – we opened the door to the RV when we arrived only to be greeted by poop smell and bugs. I agree with all the negative reviews. We drove almost for 4 hours to enjoy our vacation but it was not a vacation we expected. We will definitely return back to Chicoteague Island but not to this camp site – at least until all the basic necessities of having a nice vacation are addressed. I hope that whomever is reading these reviews from Jellystone corporate is going to address and fix these issues otherwise you will end up loosing a lot of potential clients.
Sincerely- one disappointed family from NJ!
Do not rent the campers! This was first time camping after getting rid of my own camper. Beds were horrible. Basically a comforter on a piece of plywood. The kitchen sink leaked all over the floor the whole time. Sewage flies in the sinks and toilet (a lot of them!!) The toilet smelled horrific the whole time we were there. It also leaked all over the floor in the bathroom. Dishes were dirty. The awning was busted totally off the camper I rented. Would have loved to have known that before paying… Several other rental campers had working ones. Went to the office to tell them all this before I left to save the next person some grief. I checked out and my other family members who were still there said it was filled later this morning. Sorry y’all! RV04
