Sally West Park in Childersburg, Alabama, is a relaxing spot nestled close to downtown and next to a church, perfect for families seeking outdoor fun and dog owners wanting a pet-friendly destination. Although not an official dog park and lacking some amenities typically found at dedicated dog parks, the area is pet-welcoming with open green spaces, walking tracks, and scenic trails for on-leash dog adventures. Visitors appreciate the peaceful atmosphere, the variety of trees and native plant gardens, and the chance to connect with nature through pet-friendly hiking around the pond and wooded areas.
The park stands out for its abundance of shaded areas, picnic pavilions, climates-controlled restrooms, several sports facilities, and up-to-date playground equipment, making it a favorite for families and anyone seeking quiet recreation. Parkgoers mention regular city maintenance, cleanliness improvements, plenty of benches and swings, and large open fields—though it can sometimes feel overgrown and occasionally untidy. Proximity to the police and fire departments adds an extra sense of security, and there is a substantial parking area available. If you’re searching for an inviting park experience with spaces to walk your dog and enjoy nature in Childersburg, Sally West Park is a great local choice.
Alright park. Would be nicer if it was kept up with. Very overgrown and rundown.
Could be a nice little park if kept up. Benches are broken and trash and limbs are strewn about. The side with benches is overgrown and not entirely safe, i.e. watch for ticks, snakes, etc.
Not a dog park though came up as one . Small kinda run down next to a church but clean
Ok little park. Just kind of feels incomplete. You will see the occasional tree down but the city takes care of it fairly quickly. There is an incomplete sidewalk toward the front of the park and a lot of room. Didn’t see random dogs or anything and the area is pretty quiet.
Love taking my dog here, he loves it!!!
Quiet. Relaxing, can maybe hang a hammock out here but most favorite place to go with myself and my dog.
