Located near Westover Air Force Base, the Western Massachusetts Post 9/11 and Service Dog Memorial Park offers a quiet, tranquil spot for both dogs and families in Chicopee, Massachusetts. This unique dog park stands out not only as a recreational area but also as a memorial, featuring informative signs and a walking timeline commemorating weapons, aircraft, and deployments from the last two decades. Visitors emphasize the pet-friendly open space, making it easy to relax, meditate, or take family photos while your dog enjoys the outdoors.
The park provides separate areas for large and small dogs, though current reviews note maintenance issues such as overflowing trash bins and the need to supply your own water for pets. There are no grills or cooking facilities, but you are welcome to bring your own food (please carry out your trash). While the beautiful setting and memorial displays make it unique among dog parks in western Massachusetts, please be mindful that the upkeep is supported by the community—bringing extra poop bags and helping with cleanup is encouraged.
This park looked like it could have been nice but it’s not maintained by any town facilities trash along the paths, old decaying wood chips the gravel is not a great thing for dogs, never mowed trash barrels are overflowing the small dog park have no bag dispenser and the only bags in the large dog park has only been supplied by people who leave some for other dog owners plus other concerns
My dog went to the dog pack and stile wont to go
The park was very clean and very informational! The park had signs educating people about weapons, aircraft, and vehicles used for the past 20 years. There is also a walking timeline of deployment numbers.
Dog Park has gone downhill, terribly. I went from 5 ☆ rating to a 2 ☆ rating. Trash is piling up in lg. Dog Park, the sm stone gets into the dogs’ mouths & ears when they play. The sm amount of poop bags are being supplied by dog pawrents when possible. The grounds are poorly maintained. The mulch is so dried out, old & discussing. So sad, it was beautiful when 1st erected. Also, another downfall is no water source. Bring your pup water.
Fantastic place to bring your family and dogs. Just keep it picked up by picking up your dog feces and any trash you bring in. There are NO grills. You can bring in food that doesn’t require cooking. Again, be sure to take your trash with you. It’s very quiet, serene, and tranquil. Great place to come and take pictures and just relax and meditate.
Thank you so much for your care and dedication when you built this 911 post memorial park near Westover Air Force Base.
