🐾 How to Handle Aggressive Dogs at the Dog Park – Real Advice from Dog Owners
Visiting the dog park can be a joyful activity for both you and your furry friend—but aggressive encounters can quickly […]
Logan Square Dog Park is a popular dog park located at 2526 N Western Ave, offering a welcoming environment for both large and small dogs. The park features two separate areas for big and small pups, both surfaced with crushed stone or concrete, ensuring a secure and fenced space for off-leash play. While there isn’t grass, the park is appreciated for being free to use and generally clean. Shady spots, especially in the small dog area, and amenities like a water fountain for both dogs and humans make this spot a convenient and enjoyable local destination for pet owners in Chicago.
The vibrant dog-themed murals add a unique and cheerful touch to the experience, and during summer months, kiddie pools and a water hose provide ways for dogs to cool off. With dog owners mentioning the friendliness of regular visitors and park-provided essentials like trash bins and cleaning tools, Logan Square Dog Park is ideal for social pups and their humans. If you’re looking to visit when it’s bustling, late afternoons and weekends are generally busier, while mornings or work hours tend to be quieter.
Has a large and a small dog area, but both or primarily crushed stone. The stone didn’t seem to bad for my pups, but it’d be nice if there were grass. Not to mention that maybe people would be more likely to use the sanctioned dog parks if they had grass instead of using the non-dog parks for off leash play…
Also, there was to be a “dog walker” here midday that had 10+ dogs in the small dog side of the park. After giving my dogs water in the large dog side, I tried to move to the small dog side (both of my dogs are small, and not all of the “dog walkers” were) but the “dog walker” told me I couldn’t use the small dog side because one of their dogs was aggressive…
It sucked both because I would have like for my pups to have a chance to play with other dogs, but also because the whole small dog side was shaded and the 95% of the large dog side was in the sun.
I call them a “dog walker” because they pick up and return their pups by van. So if you have a middle-aged white male dog walker that takes your dogs here, I might recommend seeing what the “walker” does regarding providing an enrishing environment. The whole time I was there he was on his phone. But that was only one day. Maybe they’re great.

Simple clean dog park with two sides for play. Also had a small pool and water hose available to keep the dogs cool.

It’s a small little concrete dog park with friendly people who visit. There are two sides to separate large dogs from small dogs. There is a water fountain, some sand, and trash bins. It is right next to the highway as well.
The downside for me is it is not a very popular park. It can be empty quite often. If you are looking to visit, try and go during non-work hours. There are usually some people there when people get off work.

My dog loves this park!!! So much so he took the opportunity of an open gate at home(bad dog mom moment) and walked himself here, and we found him playing inside. They have a drinking fountain for humans & dogs and in the summer they have kiddie pools which my boy loves to dip himself in.
The park is concrete and has a separate play area for big and small dogs.
