Located at 2770 W Irving Park Rd, the Horner Park Dog Park is a favorite spot for dog owners searching for a well-maintained, pet-friendly destination in Chicago. This dedicated dog park offers a safe, fully-fenced area where dogs can run off-leash, play, and socialize. The park features separate spaces for large and small dogs, ensuring a comfortable environment for pups of all sizes and temperaments. It’s conveniently nestled within Horner Park, one of Chicago’s scenic riverfront parks, and is tucked away towards the back, which provides a peaceful atmosphere away from busy streets.
Amenities include water fountains, benches, waste bag dispensers, shaded areas, and double-gated entries for added security. The surface is made of rocks, making clean-up easier, and wading pools are available on the large dog side during summer. With plenty of on-site and street parking (though availability can be limited during sports events), this park is easily accessible. Owners appreciate the clean, friendly environment and the opportunity for both dogs and humans to socialize. Special events like holiday photo shoots add to the community feel, making this one of Chicago’s most beloved dog-friendly parks.
An incredible beautiful place where people can practice different sports. For a family vacation, a very good option. The trees here are very tall and stately. And the river flows nearby, in a word, an ideal place to relax.

Nice to have a local park to let dogs run and play and enjoy the weather and other dogs.
Having the smaller dogs separate from larger dogs is also great, alot less issues.
The rest of the park is fantastic.
Lots of parking both in the lots and on the street. Normally have some food trucks there, basketball fields, and access to the river walk.

It is one of the few dog parks that separate the big and little dogs. Good space for the dogs. The big dog side has wading pools. It’s well shaded and has a couple of benches.
I’ll take my little guy back because he loves to socialize. We rode the bike over to the park.

Friendly atmosphere. Great spot to take your dog, or go for a nature walk by the river.
