Rachel Carson Riverfront Park is a well-loved community park in Cheswick, Pennsylvania, offering a scenic and pet-friendly experience for both locals and visitors. The park features beautiful views of the Allegheny River, a flat paved loop track ideal for walking and jogging, and plenty of open space surrounded by wildflowers and a canopy of trees. Dog owners appreciate the designated fenced dog area that allows off-leash play, making it a popular destination for dog walking and outdoor fun.
Beyond the dog park, amenities include pavilions, picnic tables under covered shelters, benches, playgrounds for kids, sports fields, and direct access to the Rachel Carson Trail for those interested in dog-friendly hiking. There is also a creek area where both kids and dogs can enjoy some water play during warmer months. While the dog park is semi-private and encourages registration for use, enforcement appears limited. Owners will also find seating within the fenced dog area, as well as waste stations and trash bins to keep the space tidy. The combination of pet-friendly trails, scenic spots for picnics, and a friendly community atmosphere make this park a unique option for dog owners in Cheswick.
I went there for a “walk in the park” about noon. It was attractive though not large. Several people were walking around a paved loop path. There were a few benches and tables, and I think some were under a shelter for picnics.

This is an excellent paved track for jogging / running. The length is 6 laps per mile which is a bit challenging to count for longer runs, but it is fine and the location is nice.

I enjoy taking walks here on the little track. There is a shelter with picnic tables and you can walk down to the river. I’ve seen lots of people walking their dogs on leash. It’s not great for kids as there’s no restroom & no playground.

Nice flat paved track for walking which overlooks the Allegheny River. 6 laps equals a mile. Train tracks run along side the park so an occasional freight train can come by.

There is a track for jogging. It is small so you have to do many laps but it is still nice. There is a beautiful view of the river though there may be a slight odor. Not sure if it is from the river or the adjacent power plant. Lol.
