If you’re searching for a dog park in Chesapeake, Virginia that combines conveniently located access with natural shade, Western Branch Dog Park is a great spot for you and your furry friends. The park features separate areas for small and large dogs, making it perfect for pets of any size and temperament. With a completely fenced-in environment, it offers a safe, off-leash space where dogs can run, play, and interact. Ample trees provide plenty of shade for hot summer days, and the park’s proximity to I-664 makes it an ideal stop for travelers with pets.
Western Branch Dog Park boasts plenty of seating, picnic tables, and accessible features for those with mobility needs, including wheelchair accessible entrances and parking. While water is usually available, it may be turned off during winter months, so bring your own in cold weather. Pet parents will also appreciate the community feel—many visitors leave toys behind for everyone to enjoy. Nature lovers will enjoy pet-friendly trails throughout the surrounding park, giving your pup the chance to explore even more.
Went to the dog park so my pup could interact with other dogs and people. It’s small in comparison to some others that I have been to and easily crowded. You definitely need to watch your step because of all the exposed roots from the trees. However I’m sure that the trees are great to have during the summer months. There are tons of toys that have been left by other pet parents for dogs to enjoy. But the water is turned off during the winter. Also I don’t believe the leaves have ever been cleaned up because the piles against the fence are an easy 12-18″ deep. It’s easy to get to right off of 664 so if you’re traveling it makes for a nice stop
It’s a nice place for the dogs to get to run around and there’s plenty of shade.
I only encountered two people with their dogs at the park and both were very respectful as far as knowing their dogs quirks and making sure other dogs were comfortable around their dogs.
One of the reasons I rated it a 4 star is the dog has to be registered prior to using this park, I didn’t know that until I arrived and saw a sign on the fence. The area was a bit small which is another reason why I rated it a 4 star.
I have no major complaints really, my dog enjoyed it.
Great peaceful place to take the dogs walking throughout the entire park. Had trails through the woods to make your dog think they’re in the wilderness
Nice shaded area to let your little guy run. Completely fenced in. Separated sections for small dogs and big dogs. We’ve been coming here periodically for about a year. The big dog side is usually full and the smaller dog side empty, but we get occasionally lucky and a smaller dog will come by to play. Our little chipper loves it here.
This is a nice place to take the pups so they can run!! There are two sides, one for smaller dogs and the other for the big fellas! It’s very shady, there’s a picnic table so you can sit down and there’s water for the pups. 🤗🤗🤗
