Went for the wine festival yesterday and had a great time. Park facilities were on point and it was very clean.

4th of July…but on the 3rd and it was GREAT!!! This review is based on execution of a 4th of July event on the 3rd of July and not the whole park necessarily. The genius idea to do 4th of July on the 3rd was just that genius.

The parking was coordinated like a fine-tune machine and I’ve never had such an easy time getting in and out of a city park or city following a large event like this. It was a master class in doing it right. Literally took us only a few minutes to get to the car and we were out of the park and on the interstate within 10 minutes. A new world record!!!

The setup was really great and the only downsides to the event was not having enough food trucks and a better sound system for the performers. There is no alcohol at this event so there really was a shortage of idiots and it was a great family event. On top of that the fact that it was on the 3rd of July he didn’t have a bunch of idiots firing their guns in a celebratory fashion into the air resulting in a much safer environment overall.

4th of July this year fell on a Friday which would have only compounded the celebratory gunfire and number of drunks that could have potentially been out so for the Chesapeake Parks and Rec to plan this on the 3rd was a stroke of Genius and very well executed and probably the safest 4th of July event in Hampton Roads in recent years.

Great job!!!

We like visiting this park because it’s surrounded by beautiful, lush greenery which makes for a relaxing environment. Some days, the trash bins are not overflowing, which is nice. The sandbox area could use a little TLC to improve its condition. The wooden playground is okay, but some parts are broken, so kids should be careful while playing. Overall, it’s a decent park with potential, but a bit of maintenance would make it even better.

We went to the Chesapeake Spring Art Festival. This was our second time attending the event. Things were more organized this time around. The signs indicating the artists and “Best in…” were professional and informative. Parking was efficient and easy. We had a great time. DeLoreans were great. Looking forward to next year.

We love going to Chesapeake city park. It’s a great place to go on a walk or for kids to ride their bikes. There is plenty of space to walk around and play. They have a basketball court and a place for sand volleyball. There are also numerous covered pavilion/picnic areas that can be used for gatherings or to eat lunch or hang out. There is a dog park as well which seems pretty nice. We don’t have dog but I always see many families with dogs there.
