Experience the scenic beauty of Chesapeake Beach, Maryland at the Chesapeake Beach Railway Trail Trailhead, a pet-friendly destination perfect for dog owners and outdoor lovers. This trail spans 1.8 miles along the historic railway bed and is wheelchair accessible, making it a fantastic option for families, hikers, and those with strollers. The clean, level trails offer beautiful views of Fishing Creek and nearby nature, providing a peaceful atmosphere for regular walks with your pup.
Dogs are welcome on leash and the trail is a favorite spot for locals who enjoy dog-friendly hiking, bird watching, and soaking in the natural and historical sights. The paved trails and easy parking ensure a stress-free visit, though you’ll want to bring your own water and dog waste bags as onsite amenities like water fountains and restrooms are not available. Chesapeake Beach also boasts nearby restaurants, a railroad museum, and plenty of opportunities to explore Maryland’s railway history.
Cool little area more for walking not really for bike riding.
Some say the real trailhead is the journey we’ve met along the way, but I’d say the real trailhead is the trailhead that begins precisely when it means to.
Great clean level trails that are on a hard surface with scenic views.
Chesapeake Beach Railway Trail is a “hidden
gem”. A great place to walk your dog, go bird
watching, learn about oysters, or nature signs along the 1.8 miles of trail. The trail is wheelchair accessible. Bring your camera, snack, and water. There are NO restrooms along the trail. They have a nice parking along Fishing Creek. It’s behind the marina. There are several restaurants nearby. Chesapeake Beach town is known for the railroad and steamship who came from Baltimore and Washington D.C. in the early 1900’s. The trail is part of the railway bed.
They came for the amusement park at Chesapeake Beach. There is a railroad museum in the town. It lifted our body, mind,
and soul! Don’t forget your binoculars!
We love this trail and walk it multiple times a week! It’s nice all year round, and super stroller friendly.
