Hidden Pond Trail Songbird Management Area is a hidden gem nestled just below a dam in Chatsworth, Georgia. This pet-friendly park features peaceful hiking trails winding through wooded areas, making it ideal for dog-friendly hikes and birdwatching. With its tranquil atmosphere, it’s a favorite spot for locals seeking a serene outing with their dogs—especially on weekdays when it’s less crowded.
The trails are most enjoyable in the fall and winter, as some areas can become overgrown with tall grass and poison ivy during the summer months. While the long footbridge is currently closed and in need of repairs, there are still ample paths to explore, including routes that span a picturesque spillway and follow a gentle stream. Note that the restrooms are pit latrines, and amenities may be basic, so plan ahead for your visit with your four-legged friend.
We love this birding trail in the fall and winter. But it isn’t well maintained. Tall grass and lots of poison ivy in the summer. The long footbridge connecting the trails is closed and is in need of repair.
However, there are lots of beautiful birds to be seen.
Bathrooms are only pit latrine style.

Nicely-maintained trail in/near woods, just below a dam. Lots of undergrowth with a steam running through it made for good bird habitat.

Great little walking trails. If you take the first right over the bridge,it’s a little longer and harder than the other way. Both ways lead over the spillway. If you walk the entire length from one parking lot across the spillway to the other,it’s about five miles there and back
