Third Ward Park is a cozy, well-maintained dog park located near the heart of Uptown Charlotte, NC. This dog-friendly spot is perfect for local residents looking for a quiet, never-crowded escape to let their dogs play and socialize. While the park is on the smaller side, visitors appreciate its clean and peaceful environment, making it an excellent pick for quick outings or relaxed afternoons. Its location near Gateway Village and Center means you can enjoy refreshments or a coffee just steps away after your visit.
The park offers separated areas for small and large dogs, giving pets of different sizes a safe space to play off-leash. Owners enjoy multiple benches and plenty of shade, making it comfortable even in warmer weather, though parking can be a challenge, so street parking is advised. Despite its simplicity—mainly gravel with a few planks—the convenient urban location and friendly neighborhood vibe set this dog park apart. As with many downtown parks, visitors sometimes note the presence of homeless individuals, but the sense of community remains strong.
Lots of dog fighting and drug sales being done here. Sometimes wonderful and safe, other times scary.
Very quaint and quiet
Use the parking on the side of the road. Park on the green side of the sign. The park however is just a few benches. For more stuff go further Northwest down 4th. There are tennis courts and such

I think there’s a dog park here as well and very convenient for happy dogs and dog lovers
Nice small park, no play ground. It is a nice place to sit and relax, good picnic spot. There is a stand to work on your bicycle, it has all the basic tools that you would need. Gateway Village and Center are close by, perfect to get coffee or something to eat. Parking for your vehicle is the main issue, but if you live near there; I highly recommend you go for a visit.
