If you’re searching for a scenic dog park in Chaplin, Connecticut, Hubbard Sanctuary and Agnes’ Pasture is a hidden gem that offers a pet-friendly escape into nature. This expansive property is part of Joshua’s Trust and is known for its easy, well-marked hiking trails through lush woods, open fields, and picturesque water features. Whether you’re seeking a leisurely stroll or a longer hike with your canine companion, there are options for all levels of activity, including a recommended two-mile walk up to Agnes’ Pasture.
Dog owners will appreciate the dog-friendly hiking environment, with pine-covered pathways, gentle terrain, and plenty of natural beauty. The trails are good for families with children and are well-maintained for a comfortable walk. While there is no dedicated off-leash dog area or fencing, leashed dogs are welcome to explore the sanctuary alongside their owners. Convenient parking is available behind the Chaplin Town Hall, and visitors are encouraged to download a trail map in advance for easier navigation.
An amazing place to walk with scenic fields, woods, and water.

This place is wonderful! My favorite Joshuas Trust property so far! This is an easy two mile plus walk if you hike up to Agnes’ pasture, which I recommend . It is a little over a mile if you take the blue shortcut trail instead. Trails are well marked for the most part. The walk through the woods is on cushy pine needles most of the way. There is no map at the trailhead in the back left of the parking lot behind town hall. I suggest you download it from Joshuas Trust > Explore > Chaplin > Hubbard Sanctuary.
