Located at 1000 Dogwood Acres Dr, the Southern Community Dog Park is a spacious, pet-friendly oasis perfect for local dog owners seeking a safe and enjoyable place for their furry friends. Its large, fenced areas cater to both small and large dogs, allowing pups to run and play off-leash in a secure environment. The park also features double-gated entrances for safe entry, ample seating for pet parents, and separate zones to accommodate both energetic dogs and those needing a quieter experience.
Convenient amenities include well-stocked poop bag dispensers, multiple trash cans, and water stations for thirsty pups. The dog park is wheelchair accessible, offers picnic tables, and is kid-friendly, making it easy for the whole family to come along. Connected to pet-friendly trails and located near the Dogwood Disc Golf course, this park is an ideal destination for a fun-filled outing with your dog in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
Very busy and not a large amount of parking, but very large dog park with both large and small dog areas. Lots of trash cans and doggie bags and water for the pups
My favorite dog park in the Triangle. One drawback. Soccer parents will take all the reserved dog park spaces on Saturdays. It’s infuriating. The city has little interest in addressing the problem. The soccer folks have a huge parking lot of their own. I wish they would use it.
The Dogwood Disc Golf course is great. It’s mostly wooded technical shots though. So if you’re looking for more of a mix, this probably isn’t the course for you.
There is some pretty decent signage, but some of the trails between tee pads could use more work. Gets a bit thick in the spring and summer.
Great dog park with 2 fenced areas.
Just park in the lot and walk up path towards the left.
Dual gate entrances.
One side for smaller or less confident/socialized dogs, puppies. Busier side for dogs who love company and interaction. Both are large spaces with seating for humans 🙂
Water bowls. Poo bags are usually available, provided by the park (please pick up after your dog).
May be muddy after rain.
Great place for dogs with so much energy that needs to be drained. Especially if you don’t have a lot of time during the day. Have two areas one for under 25 and one for over. Has a trail you can walk around also just make sure the least is at least 6in.
