Briar Chapel Dog Park, located at 1690 Great Ridge Pkwy in Chapel Hill, NC, offers a pet-friendly outdoor space for local dog owners seeking a convenient dog park in Chapel Hill. This park welcomes dogs and is suitable for families with children, making it a community spot for pet-friendly outings. However, visitors should note that the park’s ground is covered with large mulch pieces, which may be challenging for dogs to walk on comfortably.
While the park is set in a nice neighborhood, it currently lacks some amenities such as shade, running water inside the fenced area, and play toys for dogs. The water pump is located outside the fence, and the park has no grassy areas, which may affect the comfort of pets during warmer days. Despite these drawbacks, Briar Chapel Dog Park remains a local option for dog-friendly outdoor activities and pet owners looking for a nearby spot to socialize their dogs in Chapel Hill, NC.
FAQ for Briar Chapel Dog Park in Chapel Hill North Carolina:
someones chihuahua stood up on its hind legs and began reading out my full name address social security number and more… he also said no-one will believe you.. overall would not recommend this dog park due to poor maintenance.
HUGE chunks of mulch/wood, it was difficult for me to walk on, let alone my poor dog who was very gingerly stepping through it. As long as the mulch is there, this park is absolutely useless. It also has no working water source.
The park is still not very good. There isn’t one within a 20min drive of my house so the location is semi-convenient. Otherwise, there was no shade, no toys, no other dogs, and more importantly no running water. Will update later if the situation improves, as it looks like the place may be under construction.
While the neighborhood and surrounding area are nice, the dog park is awful. The ground inside is entirely made up of oversized mulch, like tree branches. Our dog tip-toed around the entire time, and he isn’t a small dog. No shade, and the water pump is OUTSIDE the fence, opposite the entrance! Just a poor design. Get rid of those sticks and let the grass grow.
It’s a great looking dog park but I have never seen anyone with a dog there. No trees, so looks really hot. Maybe on a beautiful fall day there will be more dogs. It seems like everyone in the neighborhood has a dog.
