As our large-breed mix puppy grew, I quickly realized I was not equipped to train him. Worried that he might get out of hand, I called Zach at Jocko’s Ruff House. After sharing the numerous concerns we were having, Zach identified what he thought were the root issues and said he would recommend the four week Board and Train program. He patiently answered my many questions, paused patiently when I cried with relief, and walked me through all the next steps. I compiled a list of concerns that I brought with us when we dropped our pup off. Zach watched us interact with our dog briefly and was able to see first-hand some of the challenges we faced. We left feeling relief and confidence that we had chosen the right trainer.Throughout his time away at “boarding school,” Zach would send videos, pictures, and/or updates about his progress. As we got closer to pick-up day, Zach sent us a training video for us to watch and keep as a reference. He included some of the more laid back and funny moments as well.As we drove up the street to pick our pup up, we saw him with Zach walking calmly at his side. We knew immediately that we had been given the gift of a well-behaved dog. We spent about 45 minutes going over the commands, the training aids, and each of us trying out some of the new skills. It was incredibly helpful to be able to ask questions in real time about how to handle obstacles and to clarify commands.A few weeks later, we are enjoying having a puppy who listens, can be off leash without concerns, and is not tearing up our home. Zach has touched base a few times to check on his progress and has been prompt with replies to follow up questions we have had.I would give Zach and Jocko’s Ruff house more than five stars if that were an option. I highly recommend his training services. We are so lucky to have worked with him and grateful for our silly, sweet, and now, well-behaved puppy!
I sent my Doberman, Maximus, to Jocko’s for their month-long training program, and it was hands-down the best decision I could’ve made. Before training, Max was high-energy, impulsive, and difficult to manage on walks or around distractions. By the time he came home, he was a completely different dog — focused, calm, and responsive. Zach is an absolute professional. He was always available to answer my questions, sent regular updates and pictures, and made me feel completely confident that Max was in the best hands. The foundation Zach gave him made all the difference. Highly, highly recommend.
Jocko’s Roughhouse has now trained both of our Dobermans — our first went through a month-long program, and our second, Mocha, just completed two weeks. After a serious behavioral issue at home, we knew she needed structure, and Zach delivered above and beyond. He worked with her on recall, “place,” heel, and general obedience, and the progress was immediate and lasting. Zach was incredibly reachable at all hours and kept us updated with frequent pictures and detailed check-ins. Knowing she was in such capable hands gave us total peace of mind. We’re so grateful and couldn’t recommend Zach and Jocko’s more.
Zach did a great job giving us a foundation for training our 8 month old Goldendoodle! He asked what our priorities were and focused on what was important to us. At the end of her training, I ended up bringing her to summer camp with me and she met around 60 new people at once, and was able to be off leash for most of it, staying within 15 feet of me! She has become much easier to handle and we now know how to communicate with her and how to move forward as she grows. Thank you! 🙂
I cannot recommend Jocko’s Ruff House enough! Zach developed a personalized training program to fit my dog and our goals. He was very professional, efficient and knowledgeable. He did an excellent job explaining the training throughout the process, he was always available to answer questions in a supportive and friendly manner. Zach made sure as a handler he taught us the proper techniques and tools to help my dog continue to thrive and develop after his training was done.I am so thankful to have Jocko’s Ruff House as part of our community. My dog absolutely loved going to Jocko’s, I will be using them for boarding, day care and any future training needs.The only thing you will regret is not checking this place out sooner.
