Centerport Beach Park is a beloved destination for families and dog lovers looking for a peaceful waterfront retreat in Centerport, New York. This pet-friendly beach offers beautiful sunset views and a quiet atmosphere, making it a top pick for locals who want to escape the crowds. While it isn’t a traditional dog park, leashed dogs are welcome to join owners for walks along the rocky shore or relaxing picnics by the water.
Visitors will appreciate convenient onsite parking, accessible entrance and restrooms, and a dedicated picnic area with tables. The park’s calm, family-friendly setting—often described as mellow and welcoming—makes it an ideal stop for those seeking safe, pet-friendly trails and dog-friendly beach outings on Long Island’s North Shore. Permits or day fees may be required for parking, so plan ahead for your visit.
Parking lot is big. Need a permit or can pay a day rate. Apply online for permit. Water didn’t open til nearly 11:30 for some reason. Very rocky shore. Suggest wearing water shoes.
It’s small but that’s part of the charm. I’m not sure if it’s open to non-residents you might want to check ahead but it’s definitely worth it if you’re looking for a peaceful place away from all the noise
Very beautiful place to go. Beaches are small and nice. No rowdy crowds and many families.
The beach is rocky, but the water is usually calm. There are no huge waves like the South Shore. Good luck if you want to walk barefoot on the beach. This is technically a senior citizens’ beach, so expect a mellow atmosphere
About all I can say about this park is quite simple. We were visiting Long Island from NJ & VA. We just ate dinner at the Purple Elephant (absolute yum, BTW) and my SIL says this would be a nice place to watch the sunset. Wow!!!!! Gorgeous!!! IDK when we’ll be back but if you live there, you’ve got quite the gemstone…
