Located in Castleton-On-Hudson, the Albany-Hudson Rail trail Miller Rd. Trailhead offers expansive, scenic multi-use trails perfect for dog owners looking to explore the outdoors with their pets. This dog-friendly trail provides plenty of room for walking with your furry friend, as it is wide enough to accommodate both bikers and walkers while safely keeping dogs away from others. Enjoy walking beneath a dense tree canopy, catch views along the Hudson River, and experience the peaceful atmosphere away from the crowds. The park is highly regarded for its safety features and natural beauty, making it a popular destination for casual short walks or longer hikes with your dog.
While the trail is not specifically a fenced dog run, it is praised by local dog owners as a welcoming spot for dogs to “sniff the sniffs” and enjoy nature. Parking is conveniently available roadside, and the area offers access to beautiful riverside scenery, birdwatching, and quiet spots where dogs can enjoy the great outdoors. Muddy areas may occur after rain, so plan accordingly for a mess-free adventure!
Nice trail. I’ve used several different sections over the years. Someday I want to bike the whole thing!
I was not there for rrcreation. Rather, I was responding to a high speed Motor Vehicle Accident where a car left the roadway and traveled toward the trail. The Rail Trails staunchions redirected the vehicle on impact as they were designed to do and remained standing in place. Safety is certainly a priority that has been met on this segment of the trail.
A very nice multi-use trail. We walked 5-miles and only saw three other people. The path is wide enough to accommodate bikes and people walking. It’s also wide enough to safely keep your dog away from other dogs, people, and cyclists if needed.
5 stars
Parking is on the side of the road on either side. Trailhead is a few feet away. There is no sign indicating that parking is for the trail, but I’ve been there many times and never had a problem. The trail is absolutely wonderful and goes for miles.
