FAQ for Autism Nature Trail in Castile New York:
Entertained both my 9-year-old and almost 4 year old sons, and I’m almost positive it would entertain my mid 30 year old husband as well!
This trail is really cool for kids and adults alike, neurodivergent or not. It’s a great way to encourage play, exercise, and exploration outdoors. The nature center nearby is amazing too. It’s not a fun walk when it’s buggy or muggy out though. So avoid it on those days.
Overall, the majority of the negative experiences on this trail had nothing to do with the organization. It’s not like they can help that we got absolutely destroyed by bugs. However, I do wish there was more to do on the trail. We travelled quite a ways to check it out. It was great meeting with other families who understand my child. Taking him to the park can be stressful when there are other grown adults who judge you for having an autistic child who does not verbally talk all that much. I do wish there was a little bit more to do on the trail, especially on the small web-like area that can be climbed on. I feel as though having a couple more added would be helpful, as it is rather small to try to share amongst other kids.
Love this trail, it’s a must every time i visit Letchworth, easy hike it’s a loop with some connecting trails , very well maintained
A new trail opened in October 2021. Surprised that not many people know this trail even when the park was packed with people coming to see the fall foliage. The loop trail is about a mile and has a lot of engaging activities for kids to play with. It’s accessible and well maintained. We really enjoyed the serenity. There is a big parking lot at the trail head and it’s adjacent to the nature centre.
