Kane Woods Nature Area is a gem for dog owners seeking pet-friendly trails and a peaceful escape into nature in Carnegie, PA. Maintained by the Scott Conservancy, this scenic area offers dog-friendly hiking with eight beautifully marked trails that wind through shady woodlands, ponds, and streams—perfect for you and your furry friend to explore. Hikers with pets frequently visit, making it a welcoming, social stop for local dog lovers.
The Scrubgrass Run Trailhead features a small parking area and easy trail access. While it isn’t a typical fenced dog park, the lush wooded paths, benches for resting, and occasional creek crossings make it a favorite spot for a stroll with your dog. Come enjoy well-maintained trails, peaceful scenery, and a chance to experience the natural beauty and biodiversity of Carnegie with your pet.
Found a local place to hike. The Scott Conservancy maintains and owns these beautiful green space for all to use and enjoy. Two separate entrances, Scrubgrass entrance has 10 parking spots (if everyone parks straight 🫣) while the Providence Point entrance has much more. There are 8 different trails, which all seemed to be marked very well. There are ponds and streams but when we visited, there had been no rain so they’re pretty dry, but usually have water for our furry friends to enjoy. Since it was our first time, we didn’t take our dog. We met Mr. Russell, who happens to be a member of the conservancy. He gave us so much history on the land. This surrounding land was the center of the Whiskey Rebellion.

Trails are well maintained which means you can enjoy the amazing biodiversity here instead of looking at your feet the whole time. Whiskey Point Trailhead has a small picnic area with fire pit that is clean and well kept. Nice diversity of both plants and fungi here.

Close to mainroad, small parking area. We have been here few times but the parking was never full. Lot of hikers bring their dogs, there is a small river, some days there’s water in it, not deep.
Good walk, not too long. No playground mainly wooded area nature trail, few bench to sit every now and then. You can get a map near the parking area.
