If you’re searching for a convenient dog park in Carmel, Indiana, the Dog Park at Clay Terrace offers a free, accessible spot for your canine companions. The park is fully fenced and features a raised AstroTurf area—providing a clean, mud-free space even after heavy rains. The rest of the park uses mulch, which some visitors note can get dirty or muddy during wet weather and may not be ideal for every dog. Easy access with wheelchair-friendly parking and entrances makes this facility inclusive for everyone.
This dog park stands out for its location near Clay Terrace shops and its commitment to regular cleaning and maintenance. It can be busy, especially after work hours, so plan your visit if your dog prefers a calmer environment. There are benches and some shaded areas under trees, but amenities such as water fountains and specialized small or large dog sections are lacking. The convenience of free entry and its proximity to pet-friendly trails around the shopping center make this a popular destination for local dog owners.
I live in Hamilton County and I have to say this dog park is nice, but they definitely need to improve given to me in this area. The wood chips are not a friend to a dog for them to be running around in. A few years ago they move the park and instead of laying down turf like they had which would’ve been better or even Grass they’ve opted for wood chips, which you get dogs very dirty and also cause splinters. Really would like to see an upgrade here, but it’s free and mostly nice dogs.
Great space for dogs but there is no water spout
This place was a decent location but because it was so small, the dogs did not have much space to run around and it to prevent confrontations between dogs. Also, the whole thing should be a type of turf since there is so much cold/wet weather that causes the mulch to be nothing but mud.
I will not be bringing my dog here again.
I have mixed feelings about this park.
It’s Free. If it were a membership park it would get Zero stars.
It all depends on what time of day you go. Right after work it’s INSANE way too many dogs.
I’ve been there 4 times and 3/4 times there was a problem owner who wasn’t paying attention. There’s this one lady who must be a regular because other people were talking. She has a HUGE very curly dog. I don’t know what breed. She has no control over the animal and lets it pin down and obsesses over smaller dogs.
Being a free park there’s no recourse even after asking her to please watch her dog.
Take that for what it is. It’s a nice facility, we love the artificial turf, but it’s overcrowded and unsupervised
This park is maintained very well. I went there a day it had rained all night. Having white dogs, I wasn’t sure what color they would be after visiting this park. They have a raised area that is AstroTurf and the rest of the park is mulch. My dogs had fun and left there dry!
