FAQ for Buena Vista Reservoir Park in Carlsbad California:
Lovely park, but no restrooms. I was glad to see youngsters using the playground. It is actually a good demonstration garden with some low water plants and some California natives mixed with other medium water use plants. I think like the purple trees are Forest Pansy Eastern Redbud Trees, not the lower water Western Redbud. It would be really nice if the plants were labelled so we could find them in a nursery for our own gardens. There is a large lawn where some preschoolers were just running and rolling around enjoying themselves. It is nice that it isn’t flat like a mini soccer field. The paved pathway that circles the park is a good width for novice skaters or bicyclists or scooter riders. You can even see the ocean from the picnic tables on the knoll. This is a really nice addition to the neighborhood.
There is a nice playground for 2-5 y/o kids, but no public restroom. Kids are not dogs, they need a restroom. Also playground features are made of wood. It is splinter prone and won’t last long.
