Our first visit to Brown Dog Ice Cream and Cape Charles but certainly not our last.

This quaint ice cream shop embodies a Hallmark small town main street vibe.
The curb appeal…I dare you to walk in without patting the bronzed brown dog statue on his head and whispering under your breath, what a good boy!

Walking in you’re met with friendly faces, carefully curated photos of a beloved chocolate lab, no doubt the muse for this establishment, framed news accolades and a case of the best ice cream in the area.

So many amazing and creative flavors to choose from. We could not pass up the Banana Cream Pudding ice cream. It lived up to the hype of its name, rich and creamy with chunks of crust and mushy banana pieces, it was excellent!

The portions were generous, the atmosphere was laid back and relaxing with fun upbeat music and the best part of it all, it was affordable.

Truly a not so hidden gem in Cape Charles and a must visit when here!

Don’t be scared of the longer lines, believe the hype! Great vibe and great ice cream. You can tell it’s made with love 🫶🏼 I got the all mixed up which was vanilla bean ice cream with crushed chocolate covered pretzels. Delish!

Really cute spot in Cape Charles! I love the whole vibe that the place gives off with it’s wacky/unique flavors and A+ workers. The price, in my opinion, is really good for the amount of ice cream that you get and the fact that it’s really close to the beach. I got one scoop of the Raspberry Goat Cheese Pistachio ice cream in a cup for NULL.75 (I’m pretty sure there’s more to the name, but I forgot it). We also got a scoop of their chocolate and coffee icecream with a sugar cone. I personally thought that the chocolate icecream was absolutely amazing. The coffee icecream was pretty strong for my taste, but you could definitely tell that it was made with good ingredients and fresh because I could both see and taste some coffee grounds in my icecream. If you drink coffee you should try it but I don’t like coffee. The raspberry icecream flavor was good but there were many pieces of pistachios in it. I personally would’ve preferred if there were less pistachios because it was pretty kinda taking over the taste. Would definitely recommend going and I would also recommend getting only one scoop because one scoop was a lot for me.

We just got back from our vacation in Cape Charles and I have to say we really enjoyed eating ice cream almost every day we were there. It was fun to eat ice cream after watching the sunset. Can’t wait to come back and try some more flavors. The Dirty Mae was incredible and the Beet, Goat Cheese Pistachio something was even better!! The proof is in the picture. Someone else posted this picture and my Honda Pilot is in the reflection!! LOL

Without a doubt… Brown Dog One Cream has the “bestest” I’ve-cream anywhere! It’s worth the wait when multiple people wait out in the street on a hot day… worth every minute when you eat the deliciousness to come. It’s not mass produced. The teammates who work there care. This plane epitomizes small town small business Americana at its best!!
