If you’re looking for a peaceful and dog-friendly hiking spot in Canton, Massachusetts, this memorial park is a local hidden gem! Set on the historic grounds of the former Canton Airport, the park features flat, easy trails and short loops—perfect for leisurely pet-friendly walks, birdwatching, or quick breaks from daily life. The main path runs alongside the beautiful wetlands of the Neponset River, with access to informative historical markers that honor the site’s WWII legacy.
While the park may not be a traditional fenced dog park, it’s an excellent outdoor destination for dog owners seeking new adventures in the greater Canton area. Bring your leashed dog for a stroll down a long causeway, enjoy some wildlife spotting, or simply relax among the tranquil scenery. With easy access from I-95 and a pleasantly quiet atmosphere despite its proximity to busy roads, it’s an inviting spot for both regular and casual visits with your pup.
Nice monument to the Army Air Force who shuttled planes overseas during WWII. This was one of those staging areas. Nice little loop with excellent info boards. Main trail heads north along the wetlands of the Neponset River. Flat and straight good for walking or cross country running. Easy access to I-95.

This is an easy flat trail area on the site of the former Canton Airport. There are a couple of short loops, the main drag is a sort of causeway above swamp on two sides. It clocked at 1.5 miles out and back. I’m sure birdwatching here in the early mornings is pretty sweet!
This is a quiet extension of the Blue Hills Reservation (to the north) no continuous trail from there. The terminus of the main trail is at a stubby Y, one leg gated so you don’t walk up to the train line (running on the east side of the park, the other terminating at the berm which has I95 atop (running on the west side of the park).
Pleasant, basic, glad it’s here.

I’ve driven by many times. I’ve never pulled in to walk around. It was nice. I didn’t know the history of that location was previously an airport.
Plan to return with better shoes and snacks for some birdwatching!
Love coming here. Many times, it’s not even planned. Drop in to eat my lunch and go for a quick walk. Or just to wander around on the trails.
