Friends of Canton Dog Park is a popular dog park located conveniently at 79 Commerce Dr, making it a go-to spot for dog owners throughout Canton, Connecticut, and the surrounding Farmington Valley. The park is fully fenced, spacious, and features wheelchair-accessible entrances and parking lots for ease of use. Separate areas are provided for both large and small dogs, giving pups of all sizes a safe place to play and socialize off-leash. Many pet owners note the friendly community, with attentive owners and welcoming dogs creating a comfortable environment for newcomers and regular visitors alike.
The park offers a variety of amenities, including benches, picnic tables, shade during the leafy months, water (though the water fountain may be intermittently out of service), poop bags, and trash bins. While the parking lot and occasional muddy spots after rain have been mentioned in reviews, the presence of pet-friendly walking trails and plenty of room for dogs to run adds to its charm. *HERE WE ARE TWO YEARS LATER* i decided to take my dog to Canton dog park for the first since the originally review, yesterday. Today my dog had very loose stool with blood in it. He was perfectly fine before we went here so now I will have to take him to the vet and see what’s wrong… never going back here and if you care about your pets and pockets I suggest you don’t either .
I went here last weekend or the weekend before with my perfect boy Finn and my friends and their dog Finnley . Although our dogs did have fun. The next day my friends dog Finnley began coughing they asked if my Finn was too but at the time he was not . Then a few days later my Finn started also coughing and or making a sound like he has something stuck in his throat . Finnley was positive for kennel cough once checked at the vet so it’s safe to say my Finn also cought it from Canton Dog Park. Which is a little concerning since I’ve been to quite a few dog parks in the CT area and this is the first time my dog has ever cought something. If your dog is sick please do not bring them to a public park to play.
Well maintained wood chip dog park. Separate area for little dogs. Sometimes wet and buggy depending on weather. Parking lot is a disaster. Nice walking trail paved runs behind it if your dog doesn’t enjoy the park. Few obstacles for training dog. Benches and watering station. A well-appointed dog park.
This place is amazing super spacious & just a beautiful setting. First time bringing my puppy to a dog park & I was super nervous I’ve heard horror stories about dog parks. I’m glad that I took my pup. It was quiet when we got there & got busier while we were there. My boy had the time of his life playing with all types of dogs a lot bigger than him & he did so good as did the other dogs. Their humans were super nice & paid attention to their dogs. We found our spot for when my boy needs to run free!! Hopefully they fix the water fountain & add a bathroom for the parents cuz man oh man we were there all day & my bladder lol
Absolutely love this dog park! We moved up here from Florida and were worried we will not be able to find a friendly place for our husky to play with other dogs. So far every owner has been so welcoming and inviting and our husky has made many new friends.
Large park with a lot of shade during the leafy months. Ground cover was dirt and leaves, with a bit of mulch in spots.
Water, bags, and trash.
There is a “rail trail” pathway just outside the park.
TINY section for the small dogs.
