Moderate hike with plenty of shade in the AM. The trail is a little overgrown in certain areas. The creek bed was dry but still beautiful this time of year. This trail is right off the highways if you’re looking to peel off a quick hike before arriving at your destination.

Hidden hiking trail along the PCT that has a little water fall with 2 swimming holes. The entrance is easy to miss but there is parking along the way of the Main Street. There is a steady incline that is not too steep, but the trail does get pretty narrow along the mountain side. There are lots of prickly bushes, some cacti, and rough brush, so wear pants. Once you reach the top of the peak, you will see 2 separate trailhead markings. Go to the left (west) to get to the falls and go down the hill. The walk down is extremely steep and requires some rock scrabbling, so make sure you get a good grip, take your time, and wear some good hiking shoes. This trail is dog friendly and there are not many other hikers along this trail (we saw 2 others).

Felt accomplished hiking 5.5 miles to the falls. The trail went along the Pacific Crest Trail and met several backpackers who started from Mexico on their way to Canada. It’s a dog friendly trail. It has awesome views and love seeing the beautiful flowers. It was great to see that there’s water flowing.

What an awesome & relatively easy hike..The creek / falls are magnificent right now…visit before it gets to hot. Started at 0800 Saturday, 4/21/23. Approximately 2 hours up w/ a lot of rest stops. Not a lot of shade. Recommend 2 litters of water, depending on fitness level..Currently, Creek has a nice spot for wading. For the more adventurous, go left or North of the “little” falls & see the Meow of Kitchen Creek Falls..but, you’ll have to do some hands / class 2-3 climbing. Really fun & doable for healthy & active folks. Left by 1200…it was 76°. Watch for snakes. Lots of PCTers on trail.

This is a great 5 miles hike in Alpine only 45 minutes drive from Mission Valley. The waterfalls have so much water on this time after the rains. It could be very hot so I am not recommend to hike in the summer. Follow the map arrive to the trail head and park on the right side of the road, but the trail to waterfalls you have to cross the street on the left side.
