Walked a bit past 4-mile marker on the trail and returned. Enjoyed valley and mountain views. The surface is very rugged, but the climb is rather gentle. I would recommend wearing hiking boots. Not much shade on the trail past 2-mile marker. Wear sunblock or long sleeves and carry a lot of water. It may get very hot on the exposed sections.
