Raccoon! Other than that we saw a Bald eagle down by the beach getting picked on by what looked to be a red tail hawk. Then we saw the eagle try to get some dinner in the water! The camp we had was right by the water.A little trail over the hill to the water. It was beautiful. There was even a dairy bar as you come into the park! Shower houses. I loved it. Heck I’d give it five stars, but then you wouldn’t know about the raccoon issue. He was relentless and wouldn’t go away. We were to freaked out to enjoy our dinner.

The park has a pretty setting but needs some work. Also needs to accept just shorter rigs in their reservation system. Sites are mostly horribly unlevel – like a dip to enter the site! Fortunately the park was not busy and we were able to change sites as the photos do not accurately depict the topography. The staff was helpful and courteous. The park was quiet. Nice location just a few miles off the interstate, but far enough away to not have traffic noise. Most sites are suitable for tents and very small campers. We wouldn’t try to stay here again with our 36′ fifth wheel until the park has been renovated including grading of sites.

Smaller place, quiet during the week. Plenty of room for kids to run. Nice playground as well! Even though it was still “off season” the restrooms weren’t in bad shape and the tiny store is quite wholesome. Definitely would return!

This is really more of a state park for campers and water activities. There’s only two short trails, but the Buckeye trail is nearby as well. The lakeside trail is nice, but if that’s what you’re looking for I’d go to Lake Hope instead. Overall, it’s nice and probably great for families, but a bit underwhelming for day hikes.

My fiancee and me and several friends had a great weekend camping here. The campsites were level and clean and we have the perfect amount of space. Only thing making this 4/5 is due to there not being bathrooms with running water, only vault toilets. Overall I had a great time at the state park and plan on coming back.
