Byron Center Pet Boarding is a home-based pet boarding facility known for its caring and flexible service. Dogs enjoy playing freely in a fenced backyard area, providing a fun and natural experience where they might get a little dirty from outdoor play. The owner, Jenny, is praised for her communication, attentiveness, and love for the animals, making it a popular choice for pet owners wanting a loving, no-nonsense environment. However, pet owners should be aware that the facility involves outdoor space without constant supervision, as noted in a serious incident report, so discretion is advised.

I rarely write reviews. But this place is awesome! If your looking for a place where your dog can be a dog and have fun then this is it! Jenny is wonderful with our good boy and you can tell she has a passion for the dogs she cares for. He is always super excited once we turn down Clyde Park and jumps out of the car and runs right up to the front door to see all his doggy friends. People leaving reviews about a little mud on their dog at pick up.. give me a break! I love to see it and know he was out having fun!

Update: We’ve used Byron center pet boarding exclusively since 2020 for both our dogs, and Jenny has been nothing but wonderful and accommodating towards our dogs’ needs! They come back stinky and dirty, but I LOVE this because I know they got to play and run around outside and be DOGS! They get excited every time we pull up the driveway, which is such a good sign. I know they’re well cared for here!

Jenny has been nothing but fantastic both times we’ve boarded our puppy Odin! She’s very good at communicating with us, has responded very fast to any questions or requests and I can tell our puppy has a great time when he’s there! She’s very reasonable with rates as well! We highly recommend her!!

3 stars.
Before sending your pup here PLEASE read this review. My precious French Brittany went here for 8 years, occasionally when we went on vacation. He LOVED going. We would say “do you want to go to Jenny’s?” And he would go NUTS. One weekend, he was there for one day when he was attacked by multiple dogs in her backyard. We were told it was a “scuffle”. 3 days & a trip to MSU Animal Emergency Hospital later, he passed away from his injuries. I wish I could show the pictures, but I know they would get taken down. He went into septic shock & then went into cardiac arrest, he was only 9 years old & we loved him dearly. Like I said, he went there for 8 years, which is why I give 3 stars. He loved going & we always felt comfortable sending him there, up until it was his last time ever there. Just know before sending your pup here (unless it has changed) that the dogs outside are left unattended, with no cameras. We truly love Jenny & the care she offered, and in no way are we saying to never send your pet here, but PLEASE use discretion before sending them. I dont want this to happen to anyone else’s beloved pet. The trauma of all of this that went down will truly haunt me forever. He looked HORRIBLE, his vet said that the attack went on well over 30 minutes. How no one heard it/saw it is beyond me. Unless things have changed & she has hired someone to be outside with them or something to help avoid this in the future, please just decide if your dog’s life is worth it or not. Our dog was our entire world, until he wasn’t because of human error. We have no doubt Jenny loved Copper & we truly have forgiven her. I know she loves what she does. I am wholeheartedly hoping she has changed procedures/protocols/etc. so this NEVER happens again at her home. We miss our sweet boy so incredibly much, over something that we recognize as an accident, however, it was completely avoidable. We know Jenny is as heartbroken as we are, and in no way am I blaming or accusing or anything of the like, or in no way do I want her to go out of business. Just please, please, please, decide if you want this to happen to your dog or not. We never thought it could happen to us until it did. Our sweet boy lost his life & we lost our best friend because no one was out there watching. The extent of his injuries was just horrible. He endured one surgery to get skin grafts before he passed away on February 8th, 2024. I think we will always be devastated, and the memory & images of his mauled body will never, ever leave us.

My dog has been going to Jenny’s for the past 5 years. As most people, my dog is a member of my family. When I’m out of town, I NEVER worry that Piper isn’t having the time of her life, and never question if she isn’t getting the attention she needs. While most boarding companies charge an extra fee for one on one play time, Piper gets to play all day long. It’s where dogs can be dogs! Jenny is always available and flexible. She never hesitates to help me out on a moments notice. There have even been times when I needed advice and she always responds no matter what. I know to my core that Jenny might be the only other person in the world that loves my dog as much as I do, and to me, you just can’t put a price on that. She is truly a wonderful and selfless person and her care for the dogs in her is immediately evident. Words really can’t express how much she has helped over the years and how wonderful her business is. I can’t recommend her enough!

I have used Jen to watch our dog at least a dozen times in the last few years. EVERY SINGLE EXPERIENCE has been 5 stars. There are a few things people should note.

1. This is a pet boarding facility at some ones house in their fenced in back yard. Your dog will get dirty, and if people would take the time to ask about it ahead of time, Jen is 100% up front about it. She even told me “I’d have her groomed after her stay, she’ll likely get dirty playing outside.” I appreciated that and set up an appointment in advance of me getting back.

2. You’re not paying Jen to wash your dog. That’s ridiculous, for the price if you’re expecting that you’re unreasonable.

3. My dog has always enjoyed her stay and been well cared for when I go to pick her up. People who say their dog was not well cared for either, didn’t communicate properly to Jen, or had unrealistic expectations.

All in all, I have taken our dog to other places, this is the best place I’ve used. Jen is flexible, caring, and always communicates. For a no nonsense experience at a fair price, look no further. If I could give her 10 stars I would.
